Church of Orca
About the Church of Orca
From the depths, wisdom rises
The Church of Orca was founded on a simple truth: the ocean is sacred, and within it swims a spirit of harmony, strength, and guidance embodied by the orca. We are a gathering of seekers, dreamers, and ocean-lovers who believe that the orca teaches us how to live: with grace, courage, and unwavering connection to one another.
Our Origins

Long before the Church of Orca had a name, it began with a calling. A quiet pull toward the sound of waves and the presence of something vast, wise, and benevolent. From that call, the Grand Matriarch emerged as the spiritual guide of our pod, inspired by the matrilineal wisdom of the orca clans. Her vision was simple yet profound: to create a sanctuary where people could reconnect with nature, community, and the deep rhythms of life that the orcas embody.
Today, our gatherings honor both ancient waters and modern wonder. Blending reflection, stewardship, and celebration into a living tradition.
Our Purpose
We believe that humanity thrives when it listens to the sea. The orca’s song is a reminder of our place in the great ocean of existence, not above it, but within it. Through meditation, ritual, and acts of compassion, we seek to live in balance with the Earth and each other.
Our purpose is to: • Celebrate the majesty and mystery of the ocean • Nurture spiritual and ecological harmony • Protect marine life and coastal ecosystems • Strengthen bonds of community through shared reflection and service
Our Community
We call ourselves a pod, not a congregation, because in the Church of Orca, every voice matters. We are artists, scientists, wanderers, believers, and skeptics alike, united by a shared respect for life and a love of the deep blue.
Whether you live by the shore or far inland, you are welcome among us. The orca’s spirit knows no boundaries, only currents.
A Message from the Grand Matriarch
“To honor the orca is to honor all life, the seen and unseen, the quiet and the mighty. Come as you are, and bring your curiosity, your compassion, and your wonder. The ocean is vast enough for us all.”
